The history
of this band is rather strange in the events that have led to
the bands current upcoming release on Siegen Records. Delusion
was constructed by guitarist / songwriter Phil Carnes in 1996
based from songs he had written , over a eight-year period ,
that did not fit with the grindcore sound of his band Desolate
Angel. Founder of Desolate Angel in 1988 , he took that band
through two demos , an EP , and two album releases. The final
album No Apology , released on Starship Records , marked the
end of Desolate Angel after touring ended in 1996. For more information
on Desolate Angel , click

the last year of this tour , he decided to assemble a band of
the best musicians he could find in Maryland to create a side-project
called Illusion and finally record this collection of songs he
had written. In September of 1996 , Doug Readmond joined the
project on drums and percussion. Doug plays in the Baltimore
band 20-On-The-Hype. To get more information on 20-On-The-Hype

with the band name Illusion left them searching for a new name
and legally securing it. Delusion was found as a replacement
and secured in late 1996. In early 1997 , Keith Menser joined
the project on bass guitars and keyboards. Keith plays in the
band Mystic-Force , who have several releases internationally
through Siegen Records and Rising Sun Records. He also briefly
was apart of the band Iced Earth. Delusion then scheduled recording
time through FutureMedia Audio Labs. After successful completions
of the drum tracks and some of the guitar tracks , a quick listen
over the phone landed the band a deal for a release on Siegen
Records. It was in the summer of 1997 that Clarence Osbourne
from the band Mercury Rising joined the project as lead vocalist.
Due to contracts with Mercury Rising , he left Delusion before
recording could begin. This led way to a massive nationwide search
for a replacement singer , accepting material submissions from
singers , auditions , etc. that lasted a year. In 1998 , while
in a club in Baltimore , Phil Carnes heard the band Surreal perform
and first witnessed the power of Walt Downey's vocals. He was
dead-set on getting Walt for the project as his ability to sing
the voices of other cover artists amazed him. Shortly after in
the summer of 1998 , Walt began recording vocal tracks for the
album. His voice was even more amazing taking on it's own style
through the Delusion material. For information on Surreal , click

us to the current lineup below. For more information on all the
success the band has had to-date during the recording of their
